They’re ba-ack! Jaune Prodz is proud to bring Montrealers a night of good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll, thrash and punk when Dance Laury Dance play their first live show of 2012, joined by Die Mannequin and Dirt Cannon, on Friday, June 1 at Club Soda (1225 St. Laurent).

 

Right from their very first jams in 2007, Dance Laury Dance had a clear objective: to follow the tradition of rock ‘n’ roll in its purest form while developing a unique and distinctive sound. With their long hair, leather and distortion, the heirs to Motörhead, Guns n’ Roses and AC/DC were born, releasing their first independently produced eight-song album, Out of Rockers, which was mixed by Ryan Battistuzzi (Malajube, The Sainte Catherines, We are Wolves) in 2009.

 

Hitting the road soon after, they gave over 200 performances in less than three years, giving a special concert at the legendary Viper Room in Los Angeles, and opening for Pennywise during 2010’s Vélirium, but to this day, the Dance Laury Dance’s greatest achievement is, without a doubt, having given a solid opening performance for Joe Satriani and Metallica in front of 150,000 people during the most recent edition of the Festival d’été de Québec. 

 

Never ones to take a break, Dance Laury Dance will once again be rocking Montreal to its core with a brand spankin’ new guitarist, performing songs from their latest release, Living For The Roll, along with brand new, never before heard tunes.

 

“We've been off the road since December and we miss the stage as much as we can miss Dimebag, but we did not scratch our asses since then and we wrote a bunch of new songs and found guitar player Savage Phil Lemire to fill up the departure of Dagger Pat. Blac Hollywood and the "mess" he calls music

While many artists fail to express themselves creatively or are scared to experiment within there musical talents and means, Blac Hollywood manages to do exactly that, experiment. 
Vancouver, BC Boy Cephas Munga has always had a knack for music. "My household always played Congolese music, daily"  explains Hollywood, who grew up in an African household before moving on his own to Vancouver in early 2011.Equipped with nothing more than a desktop PC and a condenser mic, he started posting music on his Facebook to generate feedback and input."I was just rapping at first, but then I stopped showing up to university classes and I took time to learn how to make beats on FL studio. I started my own classes." Jokes Hollywood who has now mastered his blend of electronic music and rap, which has been dubbed "that different S**t" by local artists and fans. "My influences range from all spectrum's of  music, artists such as: Daft punk, Kid Cudi, Egyptian Lover, and Magic System"
With the official release of his new EP:"Parade of Lights". Hollywood is set to perform local shows within Vancouver BC. No tour dates have yet to be set but expect him to hit a venue near you in the next couple of months.

Stone Iris Announce Western Canadian Tour

For the blues, rock and reggae inspired sounds of Edmonton based STONE IRIS, there’s just no replacing that feeling of commiseration and unity that comes from a group of friends gathered around at the stage, soaking up the night together and raising a glass to good times.

It’s exactly that kind of feeling that STONE IRIS taps into on their newly recorded EP, "Illuminations", which is set for release on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Like a lost night in a smoky bar, its songs feel easy to slip into and even easier to get lost in, using laid-back but propulsive grooves to create a mood that feels at once nostalgic and promising, familiar enough to get your guard down but restless enough to let you know that the best times are on their way. The New Jacobin Club Announce Western Canadian Tour & New EP "Left Behind"

Saskatoon, SK punk rock horror band The New Jacobin Club, best known for their mind-blowing stage theatrics with band and sideshow stage performers, are proud to announce their upcoming Western Canada tour in promotion of their upcoming EP "Left Behind," a 15-year anniversary release featuring four songs from the band's 1990s catalog. The band will also be premiering new material from their upcoming full-length (an apocalyptic Victorian conspiracy), tentatively titled "The Mark," while on the tour.

"The group is really charged up right now, we've got new material that we feel represents everything the NJC has been musically moving towards since the last millenium! We'll be out on the road in May with the new ep, we start on May 12 in the dark bohemian underworld of Saskatoon, our hometown, and leave the province the following week. We'll have Mistress Nagini and members of the Angry Teeth Freakshow on board for shows at larger venues - specifically larger venues that don't mind the mess. " commented vocalist /guitarist The Horde.

The tour will kick off on May 12 in the dark bohemian underworld of their hometown of Saskatoon and see them venture the following week as a seven-piece with Mistress Nagini (The Snake Woman) and members of the Angry Teeth Freak Show, such as Raunchy Rabies (the girl with the iron stomach and unbreakable skull) on board for shows at larger venues, specifically, larger venues that don't mind the mess.



"Left Behind" features songs from a studio session where the NJC re-recorded, re-orchestrated and re-envisioned songs from the 1990s. Two of the four songs were chosen because they were staples in the NJC's first live sets in 1996 and had never received an official studio treatment or public release. This EP sees the current line-up forge a link to the group's past while still maintaining their colourful elements of power metal, punk and gothic rock. "Left Behind" will also set the tone for some new material that will be introduced live on stage this May on their Western Canada tour. The EP will be released digitally online as a pay-what-you-want item and as a limited edition CD with vinyl record sleeve-style packaging.

"Refuge" - New Release From The Rabid Whole Prep

CoNcEpTs release 2nd music video - “Feels Good”

Canadian electronic/dance music group, CoNcEpTs, recently released their 2nd music video, Feels Good.

The video is much darker than their debut video release, Shades On, but slams even harder than ever, catching many DJ’s attention throughout the electronic scene.

The track was recorded and produced by award winning producer RaWb EaTs and filmed by Matt Popowich of Westfort Films.



CoNcEpTs are known for their Dance/Pop sound, with their debut single Shades On blowing up on YouTube reaching 500,000 views. The group was formed in Thunder Bay, Ontario, beginning with fresh beat-making and lyrical collaborations of RaWb EaTs and Mad EP. "Space Folk" Sensation, Orienteers, To Perform At Elmdale House Tavern In Ottawa On December 15, 2011

A travel-oriented 10-song album, written, recorded, mixed and produced by Ben Wilson, the new album is a collection of fragile space-folk songs and instrumentals. Layered with looping pedal steel guitar, warm blankets of bass and brush sticks, windchime acoustic guitars and 60s-esque choir boyish vocals, the new LP is available from Antique Room.

Under Orienteers’ former moniker [That’s the Spirit], since May 2009 the band showcased at Calgary’s Sled Island Festival, Toronto’s North by Northeast, Canadian Music Week and Pitter Patter Festival, and was chosen by Apostle of Hustle to open one of their CD release tour dates. They were featured on NPR’s uber-popular All Songs Considered podcast, and their song “Head for the Hills” was featured on Degrassi (CTV, MTV), syndicated in 130 countries.

Morgan Cameron Ross

Vancouver native and front-man of Birds of Wales, Morgan Cameron Ross is celebrating the release of his solo self-titled album debut, released by Sparks Music/EMI Music Canada.

After many years of fronting his successful band Birds of Wales, Morgan felt the urge to venture off on his own and work on a solo project. Recording sessions were set up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jon Anderson. The demos that came out of those sessions rang true to Morgan's more "rootsy" side, rather than the slick pop production of his debut release in 2010, 'Belgravia Hotel' from Birds of Wales.

The first single/video 'Let it Go' (featuring Daniel Wesley on vocals) recently peaked at #8 on MuchMoreMusic, and garnered strong support from XM Radio, AUX-TV, and METRO 14 Television. The album also features Holly McNarland on the track 'I'll Hold Your Heart', and Morgan co-wrote 'We've All Had Broken Hearts" with Canadian legend Ron Sexsmith.


The video for 'My Brother Went to Prison' was conceptualized by Morgan and his long-time friend, Remi Rybicki (who also shot the video). The story tells of a man of a man who is not living up to his potential; a wanderer, as exemplified by the lyric: "He's a heavy, heavy hitter…fighting well under his weight."

"Yes, the storyline is sexual, but we thought it portrayed the lost soul theme we wanted to capture," says Morgan.

Saidah Baba Talibah's New Music Video - (S)cream

Octoberman will be releasing a brand new album featuring the talents of co-producer Jim Guthrie (Islands, Human Highway, Royal City) and appearances by members of FemBots, Two-Minute Miracles, Wilderness of Manitoba, and the expert mixing of Howie Beck (Hayden, Jason Collett) sometime this fall.

Their last album's song "Trapped in the New Scene" was featured on Prime Time TV Series "Grey's Anatomy". Praise from Pitchfork, Uncut and Now Magazine, appearing at the SXSW, Pop Montreal, Sled Island and CMJ festivals and extensively touring North America, UK and Europe.

Language-Arts have toured extensively around the west coast and across Canada, appearing on stages with artists such as Xavier Rudd, Portable Payback (Jurassic 5), You Say Party! and Bend Sinister. The band has appeared at festivals such as TD Atlantic Jazz festival, Halifax Pop Explosion, Sled Island, CMW, Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival and NXNE. Publications like Exclaim!, Now Magazine, The Chronicle Herald and the Vancouver Sun have been praising Language-Arts for their niche sound while they were spinning on stations like CBC Radio 3 and topping the charts at #26 on Earshot's monthly poll of Canada's campus and community radio stations. The songs themselves range from beckoning choruses with bright hooks to meandering, lyrical sagas. It's no secret that many of these songs began as dreams- insights poke out with subtle nuances, sparkling and inquisitive.

MonkeyJunk to release new album To Behold at Barrymore's Music Hall

MonkeyJunk, the Ottawa-based practitioners of swamp R&B, soul boogie and bedroom funk will release their new album To Behold on Stony Plain Records on Tuesday June 21 followed by the CD release show on Wednesday June 22 at Barrymore's Music Hall.

Born out of a casual Sunday night gig at Irene's Pub starting in March 2008, this trio of Tony D, Steve Marriner and Matt Sobb have already collectively won nine Maple Blues Awards and a Canadian Independent Music Award.  They are only the second Canadian act in over 30 years to win a Blues Music Award (formerly know as the W.C. Handy Awards - awarded in the US).  

MonkeyJunk released their debut album Tiger In Your Tank independently in April 2009 and has since toured extensively across Canada and has traveled twice to Europe to play shows.

To Behold will be released on the stalwart roots music label Stony Plain Records in North America and DixieFrog records in Europe.  Recorded at Signal Path Studios in Almonte, Ontario, To Behold is a continuation of the fresh swamp R&B, soul boogie and bedroom funk sound created by their unique instrumentation and approach.  To Behold was co-produced by Ken Friesen who has worked with the likes of The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Great Big Sea and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.
